CIVILIZATION VII is nearby and fans eagerly await on who are the historical figures that will make the final cut in the game.
But many Filipino fans of the game wondered when will the Philippines make an official leap in the game? Previous installments saw Manila involved as a City-State in Civilization V, while various modders have tried to incorporate the Pearl of the Orient and its heroes in the game.
However there are leaks that could suggest that the Philippines is bound to make an official appearance in the game, courtesy of the National Hero, Jose Rizal.
A footage from IGN highlighted a portrait of leaders, one of them looked like Jose Rizal. The Civilization VII official wiki even listed him among the leaders that players can choose. Is this set in stone or is this subject to change?
Jose Rizal, to take over America?
As for his gameplay mechanics, this remains a mystery. Is Rizal an advocate of science and technology in this game? Is he a man of diplomacy or an icon of culture?
More important, will there be other Filipino leaders in the game, like Andres Bonifacio or Manuel L. Quezon?
There are also changes in the gameplay elements from previous installments, that encourages players to mix and match leaders and civs. Imagine Jose Rizal taking control of the French Empire or the United States.
As of now, the official entries among leaders include Benjamin Franklin, Machiavelli, Lafayette, and Harriet Tubman.
Meanwhile for Civilizations, the French Empire, America, Siam, Qing China, Mexico, and Songhai have been officially listed.
