BACK IN 2022, it was announced that the developers of Heroes of Newerth have ceased the game's operations and servers, forcing fans to say goodbye to the glory days of the classic MOBA title that once challenged the likes of League of Legends and Dota.
But now it seems the rebirth is about to commence. On their official YouTube channel and website, Heroes of Newerth has signalled a new beginning and the game will now experience a comeback.
“After years of community support and the dedication of a passionate fan base, we are beyond excited to bring Heroes of Newerth back to life,” started Jesse Hayes, Co-Founder of Kongor Studios and former S2 Games developer.
Enter Heroes of Newerth: Reborn
Blending nostalgia with modern graphics and design, HON will experience a significant breakthrough with their upcoming resurrection. The game will still maintain the classic roots of HON, while introducing new mechanics that could further spice things up.
A new boss rises from the ashes as a Phoenix was introduced, plus there are other gameplay experiences that are worth noting such as Ravens who can assist the player in providing vision.
On their official website, the game promised that it will have a better multiplayer experience, compared to its predecessor which was heavily criticized for the extreme levels of toxicity.
“This isn’t just a relaunch, but a reimagining of what the game can be in today’s competitive gaming world. From the visuals to the network performance, we’ve worked hard to bring the best possible experience to both veteran players and newcomers," continued Jesse Hayes.
With their announcement, things are looking promising for a game that has been dying for a new beginning. To add to the support, Kongor Studios, the game's official developer (comprised of former S2 Games devs), has rallied the community to contribute to the game.
Early adopters will gain exclusive rewards and their efforts could further push for the game's evolution. The devs even made a promise stating: "To show our commitment to the development of the game, all funds received as part of the tiered donation will remain untouched until our official launch."
Meanwhile, Garena has maintained their support to the game as they have formed a partnership with Kongor Studios.
“Heroes of Newerth has always held a special place in the hearts of players, and with HoN: Reborn, we’ve kept what made the game unique while upgrading everything around it. Our partnership with Garena has been essential in making this a reality, and we can’t wait for players to jump back into Newerth with the improved iGames platform," said Nick Caras, also known as BreakyCPK, Director of Communications at Kongor Studios.
