IF YOU ENJOY playing the skating video games like the Tony Hawk series or if you enjoy time oriented puzzle racing games like Marble Blast Gold, perhaps this game developed by students from the College of Saint-Benilde could be worth your time.
During the 2024 Philippine GameDev Expo, Team Loonar, a Filipino indie game studio, is currently developing a skating game that has shown a lot of promise due to its gameplay mechanics.
Enter "ApoCalypso."
From the title itself, one may hint of a dystopian universe which is the exact premise of the game as a nuclear war has ravaged the world.
In the game, players will get a chance to play as Peach, a volunteer tasked to search and deliver survivor capsules in Metro Manila. In her journey, she will slowly unravel the secrets behind the global mega corporation known as Calypso.
ApoCalypso offers the most unique challenges
Just by looking at the gameplay video, ApoCalypso's skating mechanics isn't as straight forward as other games.
Yes the player will be able to perform fancy tricks like the ones done by Tony Hawk, but there are other challenges worth noting.
For instance, players will be required to traverse across electricity posts in a certain time limit, plus they'll also be tasked to overcome other obstacle challenges along the way.
This ultimately makes the gameplay a thrilling experience, and given the fast paced nature of the game, players will constantly be at their toes. Due to its overall mechanics, ApoCalypso can be a game that you can play to unwind from life's daily stress.
The game has yet to be officially released, but the developers have opened a demo for players who wish to dig deep into the game. Be sure to try it out!
