UNITED City FC takes on Daegu FC in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, and Kaya FC-Iloilo faces Viettel FC in Bangkok, Thailand in the resumption of their AFC Champions League campaign on Tuesday night.
Both matches are slated at 10 p.m. Manila time.
United City and Kaya made history on Friday during their first-ever matches in the ACL, but the result wasn’t exactly what they wanted.
United City settles for draw
UCFC controlled its match against Beijing FC, but still ended up in a 1-1 stalemate.
United City coach Jason Withe expects a challenging match against Daegu after losing to J1 champion Kawasaki Frontale, 3-2.
“They lost their game so will be chasing the points against us. No injuries, so I am happy with that. I am pleased with how the players came through the first game, so we are excited for this one. For me, my philosophy is to concentrate on what we have got,” said Withe.
Marwin Angeles goal not enough
Marwin Angeles, meanwhile, scored the first goal by a Filipino in the Champions League but Kaya FC dropped a 4-1 loss to BG Pathum United.
After facing the Thailand champion, Kaya FC now takes on the Vietnam titlist in Viettel FC, which lost a narrow 1-0 decision against Ulsan Hyundai.
“Time will tell if they are going to come out of their shell. I think the onus is probably on them as champions of Vietnam to come out and attack, but whether they do, we are prepared for both options,” said Kaya coach Graham Harvey.
