Uncertainty blamed as Kaya held to stalemate

A KAYA FC side that’s still facing uncertainty over off-pitch issues settled with Nomads FC to a scoreless draw -the first in the United Football League this season.

With sanctions on Kaya players involved in the melee that marred its game against Green Archers United last week still pending, the team seemed just a shell of its true form and failed to register a goal against an undermanned opponent that only listed 16 players available for Tuesday night’s game.

“It was very hard to prepare the team yesterday because I didn’t know which players I can use or not,” said Kaya coach Maor Rozen, who shouted instructions from the opposite side of the bench as he was suspended for entering the pitch in the wake of last week’s fight-marred match at the Emperador Stadium in Mckinley Hill, Taguig.

“It’s very hard to work when you don’t know where you are,” added Rozen, whose team remained tied with Nomads in the standings after the game with four points.

OJ Porteria, who scored in the two games he played for Kaya, failed to sustain his scoring streak as he was denied twice and was replaced by Antonio Ugarte late in the game.

Unable to get the desired performance from his players, Rozen gave his nod instead on the “referees and commissioner.”

“They were very good today. They did their job perfectly and I hope all the referees will work the same way,” he said.

It was surprising comment from someone who didn’t like how the referees handled the melee that took place during the Kaya-Archers game where some questionable calls and non-calls also drew the ire of the audience.

Asked if he was serious about his comment, Rozen answered “absolutely” without batting an eyelash.
