Stallion FC holds off JP Voltes, Loyola Meralco outduels Green Archers United in UFL Cup

STALLION FC held off JP Voltes, 2-1, on Saturday night to remain unbeaten in the United Football League Cup at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The Stallions went up by two goals early in the first, before weathering a late stand by the Japanese-loaded Voltes for a third straight win to regain the solo lead in Group A.

Jim Flores and Ghanaian defender Sam Bonney struck for the Stallions, who supplanted Voltes on top after dealing their victims their first loss in three outings.

Loyola Meralco notched its first winning streak in the season-opening tournament as it outdueled Green Archers United, 4-2, in the first match.

The shorthanded Sparks leaned on goals from James Younghusband, Jinggoy Valmayor, Tahj Minniecon, and Jake Morallo to register a second straight win after starting the tournament with a loss.

Loyola climbed to second in Group B, ahead of their victims on goal difference.
