OJ Porteria is setting his sights on the bigger stage, either in the US or Europe after announcing his departure from Kaya FC last week.

The Filipino-American booter will return to his native Virgina to relax for two weeks, then finish his official highlight video and resume, which he will send to various clubs there.

“It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play either in the US or play in Europe,” Porteria told Spin.ph on Monday.

Porteria, 22, said he could have “potential trials” with clubs from United Soccer League, the second-tier of American soccer, Major League Soccer, Iceland, and Sweden, as well as in Australia.

“Nothing is for sure, but those are the places that have been mentioned to me as of right now,” said Porteria, who played his youth career in the US with DC United.

The 5-foot-6 striker clarified he will still make himself available for selection to the national team in future tournaments.

But he reiterated it was time for a change in his pro career as he tries his luck overseas.

“After our AFC Cup stint, I felt it was the right moment. I had a lot of weeks, months to think about it all and to pray about making the right decision,” Porteria said. “And now I can surely say, I’m ready for a new challenge and fresh start.”
