JP Voltes FC promoted to Division 1, Socceroo relegated after UFL playoff battle

JP Voltes FC drubbed Socceroo, 9-0, in the second leg of their promotion-relegation playoff on Tuesday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium to become the newest member of the United Football League’s Division 1.

Needing only a draw to be promoted after beating Socceroo, 3-1, in first leg last Saturday, the Division 2 runners-up still played like there was no tomorrow to come up with the emphatic victory against the Division 1 cellar-dwellers.

Chichiro Noda scored an impressive five goals, Dominic del Rosario registered a hat-trick, while John Celiz also found the back of the net for Voltes, which will join Division 2 champion Laos FC in the top flight next year.

Voltes, a UFL founding member formerly known as Manila All-Japan, also relegated Socceroo after the former Division 2 titlist played only two years in Division in the top tier.
