Global FC blanks Nomads to gain second spot in UFL group

GLOBAL FC blanked Nomads, 4-0, on Sunday night to keep within striking distance of leader Ceres-La Salle in the United Football League Cup at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

After its 2-1 win over Green Archers United was overturned following a violation of the foreigner player rule, the two-time league champion vented its ire on Nomads with a shutout win.

Ivorian striker Arthur Kouassi and Matthew Hartmann fired a brace each for Global, which climbed to second in Group B with six points, three behind unbeaten Ceres and ahead of Loyola Meralco on goal difference.

Forza hardly broke a sweat in beating Laos FC, 3-0, in the curtain-raiser for a second win in three matches in Group A.
