Zamar stays out of Perasol furor, not worrying about things he can't control

    Sep 10, 2013

UNIVERSITY of the East coach Boycie Zamar declined to comment on the school’s move to ask for an investigation concerning the appearance of suspended Ateneo coach Bo Perasol in their UAAP Season 76 men’s basketball game on Sunday.

Zamar said his job right now is to prepare the Red Warriors for their next game against Adamson on Saturday, even as the Final Four hopes of the Recto-basec team hinged on a possible board room decision.

“Tuluy-tuloy lang kami ng practice sa next game,” said Zamar. “Ako kasi, regardless, kahit anong mangyari, i-ready mo lang parati ‘yung mga players mo. Sabi ko naman noon pa, dapat ready ang mga players for any eventuality.”

UE officials have asked the UAAP board to launch a probe after Perasol was spotted during the Blue Eagles’ 77-72 victory over the Warriors that eliminated them in the race for a Final Four berth.

Perasol’s presence appears to be in violation of UAAP rules as suspended team members are not allowed to be at the venue.

The Warriors, however, are also facing possible sanctions as Ateneo also issued a motion to investigate suspended cager Ralf Olivares who was seen seating at the back of the UE bench during the same game. League rules also state that banned players are not allowed on the bench and its “immediate vicinity.”

The UAAP board is scheduled to have a regular board meeting on Thursday where the merits of the cases raised by both schools are expected to be tackled.

“Ang importante is do the things that they can do and not ‘yung wala na sa control mo. Regardless of what happens, ang importante  is ‘yung mga mindset ng players,” said Zamar.

UE star Roi Sumang is expected to be back in action for the Adamson game as no ligament tear was discovered following his awkward fall in the late goings of Sunday’s game against the Eagles.
