UST star Kevin Ferrer simply determined not to lose: 'Ayaw kong umuwing luhaan'

    Nov 28, 2015

KEVIN Ferrer said he had a singular mindset going to Saturday's game: No more tears.

The fifth-year forward shot the lights out before more than 21,000 fans at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum, scoring 24 of his 29 points in the third quarter to lift the Growling Tigers to a 62-56 win over Far Eastern University.

Ferrer said he was simply determined not to lose in Game Two - the same mindset he vowed to bring when the two multi-titled schools clash for all the marbles on Wednesday.

“Nasa isip ko rin ngayon na ayokong umuwi ng luhaan,” said Ferrer during the postgame interview.

Ferrer received his Mythical Five award earlier in the day and was asked by MVP Kiefer Ravena to 'share' the trophy with him during the awards ceremory, saying the UST star was equally deserving.

On the court, Ferrer showed why he deserved the accolade.

Ferrer hit six three-pointers in the third period to spark a comeback for the Growling Tigers. He outscored the entire FEU team in that stretch, 24-11, with Louie Vigil the only other UST player scoring in that stretch.

Ferrer said even he can’t explain why he shot so well in a Game Two to remember.

“’Yun lang talaga binibitaw ko. Hindi ko ma-ano (explain) eh. Basta tinitira ko lang. ‘Yun lang din pina-practice ko,” said Ferrer.
