FAR Eastern University enters a tough stretch in its schedule starting with a game against red-hot University of the East on Sunday in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Tamaraws are aiming to break their two-game skid against the Red Warriors, winners of four straight, at 4 p.m.
After a 7-0 start to Season 76, FEU has been on a surprising slump and recently lost, 66-75, to La Salle on August 18.
The Tamaraws will be playing shorthanded for the game as RR Garcia will be serving a one-game suspension for his second unsportsmanlike foul of the season against La Salle last Sunday.
FEU coach Nash Racela believes the slump can be considered part of the teams’ development and that the experience would help them in the future.
It will be a tough task, however, as the Tamaraws next face streaking Ateneo after the UE game.
“Smooth sailing tayo pero itong second round, teams are adjusting. We lost two games. It’s adversity on our part,” said Racela.
Racela said he isn’t surprised with how UE has been able to erect a winning streak at this point of the season.
“I was expecting UE to pick up,” said Racela. “Nakikita ko na noong first round palang.”
The 2 p.m. game also features a streaking team against a skidding squad as Ateneo takes on Adamson.
The Blue Eagles are looking to extend their three-game winning streak against the Falcons, losers of four straight contests.
