RR Garcia has been confined in hospital just hours after Far Eastern University suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday, but is not expected to miss games for the UAAP tournament leaders.
According to a team source, Garcia was confined in a hospital due to allergic rhinitic, an allergic inflammation of the nasal airways which caused the former league MVP to suffer from fever.
Garcia was said to be ill already on Wednesday but managed to lead the Tamaraws in scoring with a personal season-high of 20 points in the 58-59 loss to National University.
Garcia's efforts, however, went for naught as his backcourt partner and leading MVP contender Terrence Romeo struggled on 3-of-16 shooting and made the turnover that led to Bobby Ray Parks' game-winning free throws.
Garcia is not expected to miss Sunday’s pivotal match-up against La Salle, which is fresh from a thrilling 70-69 overtime victory over Adamson last Wednesday.
The Green Archers are in joint fourth with Ateneo and University of Santo Tomas on 4-4 (win-loss) and a win will significantly close the gap between them and the league-leading Tamaraws (7-1).
