BO PERASOL remained proud of the effort made by Ateneo despite missing the UAAP Final Four in his first season as head coach.
The rookie mentor said he is satisfied with the way the Blue Eagles fought before yielding to University of Santo Tomas Tigers for the last semifinal spot.
“The team fought hard and I could not feel prouder of my players,” said Perasol in an SMS message. “Despite the challenges which we encountered this season, we faced it head on.”
Perasol debuted for the school in disappointing fashion going 0-3 at the start of UAAP Season 76.
But the Blue Eagles got their bearings back midway in the elimination round although they still fell short of advancing to the Final Four after losing two straight games to end the regular season.
Perasol also missed Ateneo’s final game of Season 76 after serving a one-game suspension for a run-in with a fan during the Eagles’ second round encounter against rival La Salle Green Archers.
The Ateneo coach admitted missing the Final Four is a disappointment but vowed to do better next year.
“Not contending in the Final Four is a bitter pill to swallow but we will be better next season,” said Perasol.
