FAR Eastern University capped its perfect season with a 70-66 win over De La Salle to capture the UAAP women’s basketball title on Thursday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Camille Sambile led four Lady Tamaraws in double figures with 16 points while grabbing 16 rebounds and blocking three shots as the Lady Tamaraws finished their season with a 16-0 win-loss slate.
League MVP Allana Lim had 15 points and 12 rebounds while Finals MVP Soc Borja finished with 14 points, seven assists and four steals for the Lady Tamaraws.
The Lady Tamaraws clinched their second straight title in grand fashion, grabbing the outright finals berth via a 14-0 sweep of the eliminations.
By sweeping the elimination round, the Lady Tamaraws grabbed a thrice-to-beat advantage in the finals and needed to win only two games to claim the crown.
“Sobrang fulfilling,” said Borja. “For five years, I won three championships. Bago ako umalis, gusto kong mag-champion sa last year ko. Tapos, record pa, 16-0.”
The Lady Tamaraws took Game One with a 64-56 win over the Lady Archers in Game One last Sunday at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
