Perasol focused on Final Four goal as cloud of uncertainty hangs over Eagles

ATENEO plays National University on Wednesday with a cloud of uncertainty hanging over the Blue Eagles who resume their Final Four bid in the UAAP Season 76 men’s basketball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Blue Eagles face a Bulldogs team aching to bounce back after their six-game winning streak was recently snapped by streaking La Salle.

    Gametime is at 4 p.m.

Ateneo is still in a shaky situation with the Blue Eagles tied for University of Santo Tomas with a 7-5 win-loss record in the battle for the final playoff spot.

However, one of Ateneo’s victories has been put into question after University of the East asked the UAAP board to investigate the presence on Sunday of Blue Eagles coach Bo Perasol, who was serving his one-game ban.

If Perasol is found guilty of the violation, Ateneo’s 77-72 victory over UE will be forfeited by the league, based on UAAP rules.

Perasol, however, chose not to weigh in on the off-court issue, as the team looks to get focused on the goal of making it to the Final Four, and keeping their bid for a sixth consecutive title alive.

“We have to look beyond all the distractions and focus on accomplishing what we want to achieve,” said Perasol.

The Blue Eagles have actually won six of their last seven games to stay in contention for a Final Four berth including that victory over UE that eliminated the Red Warriors from the semifinal picture.

NU, meanwhile, looks to bounce back from a 55-57 loss to De La Salle last Sunday.
