Papi Sarr plays down monster double-double, eyes more rebounds and a win for Adamson Falcons

    Sep 28, 2015

ADAMSON’s Cameroonian import Papi Sarr played down his monster double-double effort for the Falcons in the game against Far Eastern University.

First, the 26-point and 22-rebound performance wasn’t enough to get the Falcons their first win in the UAAP.

Second, he believes 22 rebounds is still far from what he can do.

“I expect more. I think that it is not yet my average. I want to get like 30 rebounds,” said Sarr.

The Falcons lost, 60-64, on Sunday and remained winless in six outings.

The 22 rebounds matched the National University import Alfred Aroga’s total on Saturday against University of the Philippines.

In the NCAA, Allwell Oraeme of Cameroon has collared 30 rebounds twice for the Mapua Cardinals.

Sarr, however, said his fellow African players are not his source of inspiration.

“My inspiration comes from my coach,” said Sarr. “He is the one who is motivating me.”

Sarr said Adamson coach Mike Fermin has been helping him to focus on rebounding, not on his scoring.

“He always says that I don’t want you to score 20 points. I know you can score 20 points but if you can only give me 15 rebounds, it’s enough for me. I just follow what my coach wants me to do,” Sarr said.
