NATIONAL University's Bulldogs have made great leaps in almost early sport in the UAAP this season.
That goes for the school's pep squad, too.
With four months of intense preparation behind it, the NU Bulldogs Pep Squad has vowed to put on a breathtaking performance in the UAAP cheerdance competition on Sunday and give three-time titlist University of the Philippines a run for its money.
The Sampaloc-based squad is on a roll the last three years, improving from sixth place in 2011 to second runner-up last year. The Bulldogs have vowed to crowd UP and last year's runner-up, Far Eastern University, in this season's competition at the Mall of Asia Arena.
“Naihanda na namin yung sarili namin. Yes we are very confident of our chances,” said NU Pep Squad coach Ghicka Bernabe, who led the team to the title in the 2013 National Cheerdance Championships last March.
“Ibinuhos na talaga namin ang lahat this year. Creativity, stunts, costumes, props … everything,” added Bernabe.
The pep squad program has been given a boost by Macro LPG, which believes in the school’s capability to make its mark in the cheerdance showpiece.
“I think we have a spot here (cheerdance). NU has been very competitive and we hope to be in the coming years,” said Pat Chunsim, Macro LPG representative, while watching their 25-man team run another near flawless routine in practice.
“We believe we can improve dun sa third-place finish namin last year,” added Chunsim.
