DE LA Salle made a return trip to the UAAP women’s basketball final with a furious comeback in the fourth to carve out an 81-74 victory over University of Santo Tomas in overtime on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The second-seed Lady Archers scored five points in the final 12 seconds of regulation before beginning the overtime with a 14-0 run to come away with the victory.
Trisha Piatos scored 28 points, while Ara Abaca and Cass Santos grabbed 16 and 10 rebounds respectively in their Final Four match for the Lady Archers, who now look to bounce back after bowing to Far Eastern University in last season’s title showdown.
Abaca hit a deuce with eight seconds to play before Camille Claro buried a triple to force a 66-66 tie at the end of four quarters.
Then, Piatos, Abaca, and Claro took turns in carving out a 75-66 lead with two minutes remaining in the game.
The Lady Archers will face the winner of the Adamson-National University semifinal matchup after the Lady Falcons forced a rubber match by beating the Lady Bulldogs, 76-71.
Jinky Balasta scored 21 points for the Lady Falcons, who will face the Lady Bulldogs again on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
