NEVER in his wildest dreams did Gelo Alolino imagine being in a cover of any glossy magazine.
But following the title conquest of National University in the recently concluded Season 77 of the UAAP, it unexpectedly became a reality.
Alolino is gracing the cover of the revitalized UAAP Magazine along with two other college stars following the Bulldogs’ title victory over Far Eastern University that ended the school’s six-decade championship drought.
While he’s joined by FEU’s Mike Tolomia and league MVP Kiefer Ravena of Ateneo in the cover, Alolino is the most prominent in the cover of the magazine that chronicles the highlights of Season 77.
Alolino played a key role in the Bulldogs’ championship run, hitting crucial shots during the best-of-three Finals while acting as the team’s leader inside the court.
But the NU guard from Las Piñas City said being in a magazine cover is just a bonus in what had been an unforgettable year for him and the rest of the Bulldogs.
“Sobrang blessed ako sa lahat ng mga nangyayari ngayon,” said Alolino during the unveiling of the magazine at the URBN Bar and Kitchen in Taguig City on Tuesday night. “Blessings talaga. Sobrang bonus ito sa akin.
“Growing up, I never expected to be a cover guy ng isang prestigious magazine like the UAAP Magazine. Sobrang happy ako,” said Alolino.
