La Salle rookie Andrei Caracut says best is yet to come after impressive preseason

    Jun 16, 2015

HE may have lost against his former school during the finals of the Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup, but La Salle rookie Andrei Caracut vowed to exceed expectations when finally suits up for the Green Archers this coming UAAP season.

Caracut averaged of 14.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists during the preseason, but the 19-year old prized recruit from San Beda College-Alabang said he has more to offer despite the Archers losing to the San Beda Red Lions in the one-game championship last Sunday, 79-53.

“Paghahandaan ko ang bawat laro,” the prized recruit told Spin.ph. “Talagang binubuhos ko sa training lahat kung ano ang pwede kong maibigay (at) kung ano pa ang pwede kong ma-improve.”

Having three consecutive NCAA juniors championship under his belt from 2012-14, Caracut knows all eyes will be on him as he starts his collegiate career.

“Isang challenge rin sa akin ‘yun siyempre, iba ang high school sa college talagang inaabangan nila ako kaya pinaghahandaan ko every game,” he said.

The 5-foot-10 combo guard doesn’t seem to be bothered by the pressure, saying he has gained confidence not only with the national youth team but from his stint with the Red Cubs.

“’Yun naman ‘yung sa high school nagbigay talaga sa akin ng kumpiyansa,” he said. “(Pero) syempre kailangan ko magpalaki ng katawan kasi iba na talaga sa college eh.”

Caracut, who will take up Interdisciplinary studies at the Taft-based school, has felt at home right away with La Salle since he first joined the team in February.
