GELO Alolino praised University of Santo Tomas defense after the National University star fired blanks in the most important game of Bulldogs' campaign in the UAAP Season 78 men’s basketball tournament.
Alolino was held to six points, three of which on free throws and one from three-point range, in his final game with the Bulldogs. He shot just 1-of-17 from the field including a 0-of-10 clip from two-point range.
Alolino said UST made life miserable for him as he simply couldn’t find his comfort zone the entire game.
Prior to the game, the senior guard was the team’s leading scorer with 14.9 points per outing.
“They made a good plan from the start until the end of the game. Sometimes, when I used ball screens, tina-trap talaga nila ako. Minsan, halfcourt pa lang talaga, they denied my rhythm. They did a good job,” said Alolino.
The loss to UST ended a roller-coaster season for the Bulldogs, who finished the eliminations with a 7-7 card but gained the final spot in the Final Four with La Salle's loss to Far Eastern University on Wednesday.
“I can say na rough season kami. We started (with) three losses agad pero nakabawi kami. Luckily nung second round, nakabalik kami,” Alolino said.
