FRUITAS is expected to undergo a roster shakeup, with Terrence Romeo and possibly seven other Far Eastern University Tamaraws to be inserted in the lineup for the PBA D-League Foundation Cup next month.
FEU coach Nash Racela said the Tamaraws will have a tie-up with Fruitas next conference in preparation for the 76th UAAP season.
“Hopefully, we could get eight from FEU plus other Fruitas holdovers from last conference,” Racela told Spin.ph.
Racela was recently appointed head coach of the Tamaraws, replacing Bert Flores after FEU missed the Final Four last season.
Racela also coached Fruitas in the recently-concluded Aspirants Cup where the squad had a tie-up with NCAA champion San Beda.
The Shakers came up with a 5-5 win-loss card and missed the quarterfinal round.
Romeo will be suiting up for the Shakers, according to Racela, after his stint with Big Chill last conference although Superchargers head coach Robert Sison had said he still expects their collegiate players to fulfill their “long-term” contracts with the team.
Racela added that he will seek permission from the recently-crowned Aspirants Cup champion NLEX to release RR Garcia to the Shakers.
Garcia, the UAAP MVP in 2010, looks set to play his fifth and final year with the Tamaraws next season following his stint with the Gilas Pilipinas cadet squad.
Racela added they are hoping to retain Carlo Lastimosa, Pong Escobal, Anjo Caram, Jan Colina, and Martin Antonio in the line-up to join the Tamaraws D-League roster.
