POCHOLO Bugas scored the game-winner as Far Eastern University-Diliman beat National University, 1-0, on Thursday at the FEU-Diliman field to rule the UAAP juniors football tournament for the ninth straight time.
Bugas made his seventh goal of the season in the 16u minute and was later given the Best Striker award as the Baby Tamaraws continued their dynastic run in the juniors football competition.
FEU’s Marc Jessar Tobias was named MVP, teammate Kart Talaroc got the nod as Rookie of the Year, Kristian Bumatay was Best Goalkeeper, Kieth Absalon was Best Midfielder Award and UST’s Dominic Absalon was named Best Defender.
UAAP men’s division
University of the East beat Ateneo, 1-0, to pick up its first win in the Season 81 men’s division at the FEU-Diliman field.
Joshua Polinag’s header in the seventh minute was the lone goal of the match as the Red Warriors got three points after losing in the opener against University of Santo Tomas.
Adamson drew with University of Santo Tomas, 1-1, for its second stalemate of the season.
Allen Lozano scored in the 57th minute to equalize after Steven Anotado scored in the 54th minute.
AFF Under-22 Championship
The Philippines ended its campaign in the AFF Under-22 Championship with a 1-0 loss to Timor Leste on Thursday in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Mouzinho De Lima scored the only goal of the match in the 63rd minute for Timor Leste’s only victory in the tournament.
The Philippines finished at the bottom of Group A with three defeats. The U22 Azkals lost to Thailand, 3-0, and Vietnam, 2-1.
