Falcons exceed expectations in Season 78, enough to be positive for next year's campaign

    Nov 19, 2015

IN a way, Adamson exceeded expectations this year, enough for the Falcons to end their campaign in UAAP Season 78 with smiles on their faces.

The Falcons came away with just three wins in a trying season, but head coach Mike Fermin noted they did much better than the preseason predictions of a winless stint for the school.

“We weren’t able to end the season with a win, but generally successful naman,” said Fermin.

“Who would have thought that we would get three wins. ‘Yung iba nga, sinasabi na wala ‘yan, zero talaga ‘yan. Nakatatlo. Kahit papaano, masaya kami.”

Adamson defeated University of the Philippines for its lone win in the first round, but went on to beat La Salle and University of the East in the second round, and played in several games that could have gone either way.

Joseph Nalos is also happy with the result of Adamson’s campaign as the Falcons were competitive all season long, giving credit to their young coach.

“Masaya naman kasi hindi kami ganun kalakas pero nabuo ni coach Mike,” said Nalos, who played in his final year with the Falcons.

“Three months lang kami nag-train, pero ganito ‘yung resulta. Hindi naman kami natatalo ng tambak, dikitan lang.”

The Falcons are confident of a much better Season 79, especially with the team only losing two players in Nalos and Nico Capote, while Papi Sarr and JD Tungcab will be back for another tour of duty.

“We were struggling this season but we didn’t quit. Struggle talaga pero bandang huli, hindi nag-quit ‘yung mga bata. Masaya naman ‘yung season na ‘to,” said Fermin.
