Erram on the road to recovery as Blue Eagles look to fill Slaughter void

    Feb 22, 2013

ATENEO center JP Erram is on the road to recovery after suffering a season-ending ACL injury last season.

Paolo Trillo, Ateneo team manager, said Erram is on target to back in practice in March, just in time to rejoin the  Blue Eagles when they begin their rigid buildup in their quest for a sixth successive UAAP championship.

“JP is recovering well. He hasn’t practiced yet,” Trillo said. “(But) he is on schedule with his recovery time, which is around end of March.”

Erram will be a crucial piece in the Blue Eagles’ lineup after the team's top two frontliners, Greg Slaughter and Nico Salva, played out their eligibility last season.

Also gone is Justin Chua, who played in the PBA D-League after his stint with Ateneo, while Frank Golla may opt to return for his fifth and final year with the team.

The 6-foot-7 Erram showed a glimpse of what he is capable of last season when he averaged 3.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in 10 games as a back-up to Slaughter.

But Erram hurt his knee last September in a game against Adamson, forcing him to sit out the Blue Eagles' run to a fifth straight UAAP crown.

Ateneo coach Bo Perasol is looking forward to Erram’s return.

“Hopefully, he will join us by mid-March,” Perasol said.
