Former FEU star Arwind Santos tells Tams to focus on Aroga; Ildefonso wants more touches for NU big man

    Oct 4, 2014

FROM the outside looking in, former UAAP stars from both sides have pieces of advice for their alma mater after Far Eastern University's 75-70 win over National University in Game One.

Arwin Santos, part of three FEU champion teams from 2003-2005, said team chemistry is solid for the Tamaraws but warns the current players to do a better job on NU big man Alfred Aroga.

Santos' former teammate Denok Miranda has the same thoughts.

Miranda, who played with Santos, Jeff Chan, Marc Isip and JR Rizada during their time, said: "Mas taasan pa nila ang depensa at energy kasi 'yun ang magpapanalo sa amin."

With a 1-0 edge in a best-of-three series, one-time UAAP MVP RR Garcia wants the Tams not to let up.

For Jens Knuttel, who along with Garcia never got a taste of a championship as they bowed to Ateneo in 2010 and 2011, said this is not the time for the Tamaraws to relax.

On the other hand, former NU star Danny Ildefonso said Bulldogs big man Aroga should get more touches inside the paint not only to maximize his height but to create plays for the shooters at the perimeter as well.

Game Two will be on Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
