ARVIN Tolentino is set to receive the Rookie of the Year honors for UAAP Season 77.
The Blue Eagle forward came away with 40.2143 statistical points (SPs) after the eliminations, according to an official stats provider Imperium Technology and Smart Bro, placing 22nd among all players but topped all first-year players out of high school.
Only fresh high school graduates are eligible for the plum.
Prince Rivero of La Salle was the second-best rookie with 28.5 SPs, 38th out of all players.
Tolentino won the award even after slumping in the second round and incurring one unsportsmanlike foul and one technical foul. He however was not disqualified as he was not given any suspension.
Tolentino joins Blue Eagles individual awardees Kiefer Ravena, who won the MVP title, and Chris Newsome, who made it to the Mythical Five.
The awards will be formally given during the finals series next month.
