NATIONAL University trounced Adamson, 75-54, on Wednesday for its second straight win in the UAAP Season 78 men’s basketball at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Alfred Aroga had 16 points and eight rebounds as the Bulldogs improved their win-loss record to 2-3.
Gelo Alolino scored eight of his 10 points in the second period for the Bulldogs.
Despite the lopsided victory, NU coach Eric Altamirano said the win was not easy as the Bulldogs needed a 16-9 second quarter run to pull away.
“It looked easy pero we had a hard time in the first half,” Altamirano said. “We didn’t have the energy when we started the game. We allowed them to score 19 points in the first quarter.
“Adamson got their confidence back and it’s a good thing that we stepped up in the second half,” he said.
Ivan Villanueva had 11 points for the Falcons, who took a 19-17 lead in the first period but failed to hold on and remained winless in five games.
Adamson played without its head coach Mike Fermin, who was suspended for one game after his being ejected from the Falcons’ previous outing against La Salle.
