Rico Andes nets brace as FEU deals Adamson another 4-0 romp to gain share of early UAAP lead

Feb 11, 2017

FAR Eastern University made it two in a row as the Tamaraws ran through the Adamson Falcons, 4-0, in the UAAP Season 79 men's football tournament on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The win pushed the Tamaraws to a tie with Ateneo Blue Eagles atop of the table scoring six points apiece.

More importantly, they finished with their second straight clean sheet as the Falcons blew early chances to score in the game.

"For us to be achieving our wins, inspite of us being very early in understanding the system fully, that's the best take away today. I hope we can be better as we continue playing," said FEU coach Vince Santos.

Rico Andes, a goal scorer in their 2-0 win over UST, padded his season tally to three by completing a brace, scoring on both halves to power the Tamaraws.

Val Jurao also found the back of the net while Dominique Canonigo recorded his first goal of the season in the 17th minute to open the rout for the Tams.

Andes and Jurao soon followed suit, scoring in the 39th and the 45th minute, respectively. Then Andes formally put the game out of reach in the 67th minute as the Tamaraws cruised to three points.

Despite a much improved performance, Adamson still failed to get a point and has now suffered its second straight 4-0 defeat after bowing to Ateneo last week.
