LISTED as one of Nomads’ youth (reserve) players going into the new season of the United Football League didn’t assure James Woldring a spot in the team’s playing roster.
Yet, everything went as desired and the teenage booter made a rousing debut by spearheading Nomads to a 1-0 victory over Philippine Air Force Saturday night at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
The 17-year-old Woldring scored the winner in the 70th minute to give his team the full three points that tied early leaders Stallion-Sta. Lucia, Global, Loyola Meralco, and Pachanga-Diliman.
“Couldn't have asked for a better debut in the UFL! Thanks for the kind words everyone!!” Woldring later posted on his Twitter account @JamesWoldring.
Now without star striker Chieffy Caligdong, the Airmen had hoped to turn to acquisitions Vince Braga, Adrian Bretana, and Paul Concepcion, but none of them came through in their respective debuts.
