STALLION Laguna FC defeated Kaya FC-Iloilo, 1-0, to bag the PFF Women’s Cup 2024 last Monday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Chandler McDaniel scored the lone goal of the match early in the second minute, sufficient to complete Stallion’s turnaround from worst two years ago to first in the women’s cup competition.

In the last edition of the tournament in 2022, Stallion Laguna FC was in last place among eight clubs after notching a lone draw.

Stallion Laguna FC was also held winless in the PFF Women’s League in 2023, and was also at last among the nine clubs.

But Stallion overhauled its roster, bringing in Filipinas standouts Olivia and Chandler McDaniel, Sofia Harrison, Jessica Miclat, and U-17 players Samantha Hughes, and Bella Passion.

“We wanted to come in and make a statement we wanted to win of course,” said Chandler McDaniel, who also claimed the MVP. “Coming from last season, we really wanted to make a statement, come back and that’s exactly what we did and we will keep on moving.”

Kaya defeated Manila Digger, 1-0, to advance to the championship match last December 4.

Other awardees are the following: Tuloy FC (Fairplay Award), Olivia McDaniel (Best Goalkeeper), Hali Long (Best Defender), Katrina Wetherell (Best Midfielder), Julissa Cisneros (Top Goal Scorer with 11 goals).

“Congratulations to Stallion Laguna FC on their championship victory and to all the award recipients for their outstanding performances,” said Philippine Football Federation president John Gutierrez. “The PFF Women’s Cup 2024 showcased the incredible talent and dedication of women’s football, and we are excited to continue supporting the growth of the sport in the Philippines.”
