SINGAPORE — The Philippine Under-23 men’s football team suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Cambodia on Wednesday night at the Jalan Besar Stadium for its second loss in the 28th Southeast Asian Games.
The Nationals slumped to last place in the five-team Pool A after two losses, the first coming at the expense of host Singapore, 1-0, on Monday.
Prak Mony Udom scored the game's first goal in the 30th minute before Keo Sokpheng connected four minutes before halftime to give the Cambodians a 2-0 spread.
Paolo Salenga broke the duck for the Filipinos in the 53rd but Chan Vathanaka scored the insurance goal in the 81st.
Midfielder Arnel Amita was sent off after receiving his second yellow card in the 92nd minute. In total, four yellow cards were issued to the Philippine side.
Myanmar, Cambodia, and Singapore have three points in Pool A after winning their first matches of the tournament.
