LONDON — Queens Park Rangers rallied to beat Wigan 2-1 in overtime Monday night and will play Derby on May 24 at Wembley for a spot in the 2014-15 English Premier League.
In a matchup of teams relegated at the end of the 2012-13 season, QPR and Wigan tied 0-0 in the first leg last week.
James Perch put Wigan ahead in the ninth minute in a driving rain. Charlie Austin tied the score with a penalty kick in the 73rd and then knocked in a pass from Bobby Zamora in the sixth minute of overtime.
Derby defeated Brighton on 4-1 aggregate to reach the final.
The playoff winner joins Leicester and Burnley, who earned promotion as the top two teams in the League Championship. Cardiff, Fulham and Norwich were relegated from the Premier League.
