THE Philippines settled for a 2-2 draw over Myanmar on Saturday at the start of the 2024 ASEAN Women’s Futsal Championship at the Philsports Arena.
The Pinay5 got the equalizer from Agot Danton, scoring on a rebound with 7:20 left in the second half to obtain a point in the five-nation competition.
The Philippines and Myanmar are behind Thailand, which won its first game over Indonesia, 1-0.
Danton’s goal was a response to a goal that the Philippines gave up after Catherine Graversen was called for a handball inside the box in the 8:11-mark of the second half. Yu Mi Mi Lwin’s penalty kick was parried away but got the rebound and scored for a 2-1 lead for Myanmar.

The Philippines actually led, 1-0, on a goal by Isabella Bandoja in the 28:38-mark but gave up two consecutive goals including from Lwin Lwin Thet with 16:40 left in the match.
The Pinay5 resume action on Sunday when they go up against Thailand in the inaugural edition of the tournament.
