IN another huge step for Philippine Football, the Malditas opened the 2018 Women's Asian Cup with a stunning 2-1 win over hosts Jordan on Friday at the Amman International Stadium (Saturday, Manila time).

Sarina Bolden scored the winner for the Philippines in the 75th minute as they stormed back from a goal down early.

“I’m so proud of the girls. We didn’t like them scoring first, took the air from our sails but we came out harder. We wanted it more than them and that showed,” said co-captainTahnia Annis.

“We played it really smart and it paid off."

Maysa Jbarah put the 51st-ranked Jordan ahead early. That goal was negated by her own teammate when Yasmeen Khair headed the ball at the back of their own net allowing the Philippines to equalize.

That set the stage for Bolden's winner as she beat three defenders on the counter.
