THE Philippine girls team reached the quarterfinals of the 2014 Street Child World Cup after defeating El Salvador, 3-1, on Thursday in Rio De Janeiro.
Agot of SOS Village Davao came up with a goal, while Payatas FC teammates Angelica and Ronalyn also scored for the Philippines to take the top spot in Group 2 with six points. Complete names of the players are withheld due to child protection policies.
The Filipina booters earlier defeated South Africa, 9-0.
A Philippine boys team is also competing in the Street Child World Cup that was created to give street children opportunities through football.
