THE Philippines dropped a 2-1 loss to Australia in its final match of the 2025 AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup qualifiers on Sunday in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The Nationals ended the qualifiers with two wins, one draw, and one loss for seven points in Group C, behind Australia, which swept its four matches.
Daisy Arrowsmith and Jessica Au scored for the Australia, with the Philippines getting on the board on an own goal by Halle Smit.
PH awaits fate
The Philippines will have to wait for the rest of the results to know if it will advance to the actual tournament to be played on China in May or not.
The Philippines will clinch the Asian Cup spot outright with a loss by third-running Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan or a draw in that match. Uzbekistan is at third with four points on a win, a draw, and a loss.
Uzbekistan still has a chance at becoming the second placer in Group C and take an outright berth as it plays Turkmenistan later in the day. The host country needs to win by at least two goals to make it.
But the Philippines can still make it to the Asian Cup with an Uzbekistan win by two or more goals provided that it becomes the best third-placer from the four groups.
