THE United City Football Club will be retaining most of the players from Ceres-Negros FC, the three-time Philippines Football League champion club.

The club said it will be getting 16 out of the 21 registered players of Ceres-Negros FC, which recently transfered its ownership due to financial losses brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

United City FC didn’t reveal the names of the players other than James Younghusband not being part of the new club following his retirement. The club statement, however, said it has also retained most of the team staff led by general manager Ace Bright.

United City FC also plans to keep head coach Risto Vidakovic in order to have continuity with the club taking over the chores of participating in the AFC Cup 2020 that was left by Ceres-Negros FC.

“It is our intent to to have coach Risto return as the head coach. The aim is to keep the team and staff together as much as possible, and allow them the well-deserved chance to continue to play football amid all the challenges that everyone has been facing,” said the club in a statement.
