UNITED City FC announced it is skipping the 2021 Copa Paulino Alcantara, just a week before its opening on November 7.
The club made the announcement on its Facebook page, but didn’t reveal the reason behind the decision to pull out while in the middle of preparation for the Copa.
United to return in PFL
UCFC, however, assured that it will now be preparing for its title defense next year in the Philippines Football League competition.
“We wish the PFL and all other clubs good luck in the competition while we get our house ready to defend our PFL title in the upcoming 2022 season,” said the club.
The decision of the 2021 league champion leaves the Copa with only five clubs, and only two in Group A in Stallion Laguna FC and Dynamic Herb Cebu FC.
Kaya FC-Iloilo, Azkals Development Team, and Mendiola FC make up Group B.
