Quick-fire Global Cebu FC gets back on winning track with PFL romp over Ilocos United

    Jun 18, 2017

GLOBAL Cebu used a huge first half as it put away Ilocos United, 3-0, in the Philippines Football League (PFL) on Sunday at the Elpidio Quirino Stadium in Bantay.

After struggling in its past few games both in local and international play, the Cebu-based side scored thrice in a torrid eight-minute span to take the fight out of the hosts early.

Paul Mulders scored on a penalty in the 23rd minute to open the floodgates for the visiting side.

Shu Sasaki then took over in the next seven minutes, firing in goals in the 23rd and 30th minute to bury the newcomers in their own home ground.

Global improved to 10 points in five matches while atoning in the AFC Cup and in the PFL after conceding late in 1-0 defeat to Ceres in Bacolod and a 3-2 defeat to Home United.

Ilocos dropped at the botton with a solitary point.
