GLOBAL FC officials are scheduled to meet with Philippines Football League (PFL) commissioner Coco Torre following allegations that it is unable to meet financial obligations to its players and staff.
“Our aim is to ascertain the current situation of the club and discuss with club management the actions they are taking,” said Torre.
Allegations of unpaid wages to its staff surfaced after Sayagraphics, which was hired by the club to make art cards for its social media pages, came forward by saying Global FC has yet to fulfill its financial obligations since January.
“The owner replied but days have passed and he kept saying that he would send the money or he was just too busy, yet I see his Instagram stories, where he's just partying,” wrote Sayagraphics on its Facebook page.
Players have also made comments on the post, chiding the club.
This is not the first time Global FC was embroiled in such controversy. Its players also came out condemning the club’s alleged non-payment of their 2018 salaries.
“Players’ welfare is important to the growth of a professional club and of the league. The club must address the issues raised,” said Philippine Football Federation general secretary Edwin Gastanes.
