THREE Philippines Football League (PFL) clubs resume practices on Wednesday in preparation for the planned start of the 2020 season.
Philippine Football Federation (PFF) president Mariano Araneta said United City Football Club, Kaya and Stallion are scheduled to begin training at the national federation’s training center in Carmona, Cavite.
Araneta said the clubs will be meeting with the Games and Amusements Board on Tuesday.
“The teams are looking forward to the resumption of training,” said Araneta during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum via online video conference. “Today, they will have a Zoom conference with GAB to advice them about the health protocols that we have submitted to the IATF. It’s a matter of reminding them about the safety of the players and the safety of the venue.”
The PFL is one of the professional leagues that have been allowed by the GAB to resume training amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Araneta said players and staff have undergone COVID-19 tests.
“The players in each club has its own responsibility to make sure that the players are following safety protocols,” said Araneta.
PFL commissioner Coco Torre said the clubs will be under a safe environment at the PFF Training Center.
“It’s open so open wind siya and it’s not only one pitch we are looking at. Sa Carmona, apat naman. Meron tayong malaking football area na official size and then ‘yung mga mini-pitch. Sa totoo lang, puwedeng 20 at the same time,” said Torre.
Torre reminded the players to practice due diligence for the safety not only of their own but also for their teammates.
“’Yung special instruction is due diligence. ‘Yung ginagawa namin amidst the pandemic, ‘yun pinakaimportante dito is sundin talaga nila ‘yung instructions because cooperation is vital on what we are trying to achieve,” said Torre.
