THE tweaking of lineups has started in the United Football League with teams releasing some players on Sunday ahead of the opening of league play on Saturday at the Emperador Stadium in Mckinley Hill.

Defending champion Stallion, already left without stars Rufo Sanchez, Joaco Cañas, Lee Joo Young, and Lee Won Hyung, has continued to curiously overhaul its championship squad, choosing to drop key cogs Bo Bae Park, Diego Barrera, Hector Zaghi, and Gui Hasegawa.

Runner-up Global has released defender Carlos Guisso and Filipino-Dutch Azkal Paul Mulders, while transferring Ed Sacapaño back to mother squad Philippine Army.

Chad Gould, who had been a vital part in Loyola Meralco’s breakthrough title run in the recent UFL Cup, is the Sparks’ most notable loss, as well as Guamanian international Jonah Romero, who is expected to draw interest after hardly seeing action in the knockout tournament.

Kaya, for its part, has dropped Saba Garmaroudi, who had been the team’s first-choice goalkeeper, along with Danilo de Jong, national team standout Jason’s younger brother, who returns to the Netherlands after being unable to live up to his potential.

Green Archers United and PSG cut defenders Jake Hugo and Jamil Muncada, respectively. Hugo, a member of the Archers’ backline, has been transferred to Philippine Air Force.

Matthew Uy completes the list of most notable drops in the top tier after the former national team player was released by Division 1 newcomer Socceroo.
