JP Voltes and GLOBAL FC posted lopsided victories to gain the early lead in the United Football League on Saturday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Voltes, the Japanese-loaded squad, blanked Nomads SC, 5-0, before Global hammered out an even more dominant win with an 8-0 shutout of sister squad Laos FC to gain the 1-2 spots in the standings with six points each and Voltes leading on goal difference.
Takumi Uesato and substitute Alen Angeles registered a brace each to lead Voltes, which built a three-goal lead in the first half to set the tone for the rout.
Misagh Bahadoran sustained his sizzling form for Global, slotting home two goals anew, while OJ Clarino, Paolo Bugas, Hikaru Minegishi, Mark Winhoffer, and Omid Nazari added a goal apiece for Global, which also benefited from an early own goal from Laos.
