THE 9-1 victory over Philippine Army in the United Football League was not Kaya’s only reason to celebrate on Thursday.
The league earlier in the day declared Kaya’s 0-0 draw against Green Archers United last February 1 to a 3-0 win after the Archers fielded a sixth foreigner a minute before second-half stoppage time.
The league only allows five foreigners in the field per team at the same time.
The development hiked Kaya’s point total to 15, which is now level with second-running Global.
Aside from moving a place down to sixth and getting their point total reduced to six points, the Archers are also likely to face a hefty fine for the offense.
“Although we would like to win the game on its merits in the ninety minutes, the rules are put in place for a reason. So it’s unfortunate for the Archers they make a mistake,” Kaya coach David Perkovic said.
“I’m not pleased about getting an extra two points in that regard, but I can’t really (take it back),” the Australian mentor added.
