Hat-trick hero Tating Pasilan justifies return to forefront of Archers attack

    Feb 4, 2014

FLORIANO 'Tating' Pasilan Jr. had to beg Green Archers United coach Rodolfo Alicante to allow him to play at his natural striker position.

And his insistence paid off on Tuesday night when he spearheaded the Archers to a resounding 7-1 victory over Socceroo in the United Football League at the Emperador Stadium in Mckinley Hill.

Thrust up front after getting deployed at the wing in past games, the 27-year-old pride of San Carlos City made the most of his return as he registered a hat-trick for an Archers side that barged into the win column after starting with four draws and a loss.

“Na-miss ko talaga yung (pagiging) striker,” the fleet-footed forward admitted after the game. “Kung bibigyan ako ng chance ng head coach at management na i-stay ako as striker, mag-fofocus talaga ako para sa team, hindi lang para sa sarili ko.”

It seems Pasilan will stay there, if you ask Alicante.

“Ganda ng performance niya,” said the coach, who also decided to move Pasilan due to the absence of suspended forward Robert Lopez Mendy.

Chieffy Caligdong added a brace, while Gab Olowoyeye, and Jessie Martindale chipped in a goal apiece for the Archers, who hiked their point total to seven points that moved them three places up to fourth place.

The promising squad that finally found the killer’s instinct also dealt hapless Socceroo its fourth loss in six games to stay second to the last in the nine-team standings.

If that was not enough, the 2013 Division 2 champions also finished the game with a man down as sub Mark Rivera suffered a gruesome knee injury that left him wincing in pain.

The Archers also finished the game a man down as Martindanle, who scored on a penalty that made it 5-1 in the 74th minute, was questionably sent off later with a straight red card for profane language.
