GREEN Archers United added to the misery of Loyola Meralco, holding the United Football League heavyweight to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night at the Emperador Stadium in Taguig.
The Archers erased an early deficit before hanging tough in the second half to frustrate the lethargic Sparks, who appeared to be still reeling from a crucial 1-2 loss to leader Global FC last Tuesday.
Archers top scorer Robert Mendy's penalty conversion canceled out Graham Caygill's early goal for the Sparks, who settled for a point for a total of 40 after 20 games.
Still, Archers coach Rodolfo Alicante felt his team, which improved to 27 points to overtake Pachanga in fifth spot, could've won the match.
"We played good but not best," Alicante said. "We had three sure goals that didn't go in."
The Sparks also missed a makeable chance that could've proved the difference near second-half stoppage time, when defender Rodrigue Nembot's header just hit the right post.
