GLOBAL FC sustained its sizzling run in this United Football League season with a 4-2 taming of Stallion FC at the start of its league campaign on Sunday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Global, which ruled the UFL Cup last month, leaned on a brace by Misagh Bahadoran, one from Hikaru Minegishi, and an own goal from the Stallions to cruise to victory.
That allowed the 2013 champion to keep in step with Loyola Meralco and Kaya FC, which opened their respective campaigns with victories on Saturday.
“We want to keep the ball rolling,” Global coach Leigh Manson said. “Stallion is a quick and aggressive team and we shouldn’t have allowed that one ball down the middle to beat us, but overall three points is vital because we’re keeping pace with Kaya and Loyola.”
Ceres-La Salle started its title-retention bid on the wrong foot as it lost to the Sparks, 3-2, while Kaya overpowered Division 1 newcomer Laos, 10-2.
Forza held sister squad Green Archers United to a 1-1 draw for Sunday’s shock result, while Manila Nomads Club claimed three points after an MSA Agila forfeiture.
