AN experimenting Global FC seeks to establish its first winning streak of the season as it tangles with Pasargad on Tuesday in the United Football League at the Emperador Stadium in Mckinley Hill.
Fresh from a 2-1 victory against Kaya FC last Saturday, the perennial title contenders take the pitch for the second time in four days, facing a Pasargad side that fought Green Archers United to a 1-1 draw the last time.
Kickoff is at 5:15 p.m. with Global expected to field a few surprises once again after entrusting seldom-used Paolo Pascual with the starting goalkeeper position against Kaya.
Pascual, the Cebu native who started in place of African Roland Sadia, committed an early miscue that led to a Kaya goal, before making up with a better showing thereafter.
“We really are keen to see the strength and depth of the squad we’ve got, so we’re gonna give players the opportunity to play,” Global coach Leigh Manson said. “It’s not just eleven players that we have.”
“It’s worth taking this time of the season to get to know your players and see if they can produce what we need for Global and the Global fans,” added the Scottish coach, who is counting on, as usual, Azkals Jeff Christiaens, Misagh Bahadoran, Jason de Jong, and Mark Hartmann.
Global showed its depth as it was new acquisitions Charles Pettys and Val Kama who scored for the team against Kaya.
Pasargad, under new coach Ayi Aryee, is counting on its Iranians and Africans, bannered by Promise Jolomi.
Defending champion Stallion tries to barge into the win column as it faces Pachanga in the nightcap at 7:30 p.m.
The Stallions are coming off a 2-2 stalemate against the Archers, while Pachanga lost to Kaya, 0-2, last time.
